Reach Out Rescue & Resources

Why Reach Out Rescue & Resources?

We are a small group of rescuers with a large amount of passion for dogs and cats!!!

Our Mission: To promote animal welfare though public awareness, to act as a rescue screening and placement service for animals needing foster and adoptive homes from high-kill shelters and to act as a resource for other rescues, shelters and prospective adopters.

 - Founded August 2010 by founder and Chairman Libby Marquardt

 - RORR is a 501(c)3 organization.

 - RORR is a 100% volunteer organization.

 - RORR focuses on the dogs who are the last to be adopted and saved from shelters: black
   dogs, hounds and seniors.

 - Almost 20% of the dogs placed in adoptive homes by RORR are over 7 years old (seniors).

 - Since its beginning, RORR has place over 3,000 dogs and cats in their forever homes.

In shelters we know that the last to be adopted or saved are the black dogs, senior dogs and hounds. So we are dedicating this Rescue to trying to help this group of dogs. Click here for a "Who's Who at RORR".

We are dedicated to those rural area shelters with great dogs and cats who have no homes. Our efforts are to help those shelters find safety for their animals and adopters to find a perfect fit. We are careful to temperament test every dog and make sure they are both people and dog friendly.

We are here to provide you with the resources necessary to find a great family companion, provide you with certified trainers to ensure a happy life in your home, and be a resource center for any and all needs you may have during the lifetime of your adopted dog or cat.

Senior Dogs: As rescuers, we can never understand how someone can just get "tired" of a dog. These are living creatures and have given all their love and dedication to a family, only to be dumped in a shelter where the likelihood of them being adopted is very slim. They are usually easy going, housebroken, gentle, and do not ask for much other than a nice walk, good food and to lay at your feet. They are ideal for a more sedentary home... but they are also a great fit for young children or seniors. Talk to us about a senior dog, and we will match you correctly. Click here for a "tribute" video for senior dogs. As we grow, our numbers show that about 20% of our adoptions are senior dogs.. those over 7 yr old.

Look at these precious faces... how can you say they are not worthy of saving and getting a new home????

Reach Out Rescue is an approved 501c3 organization so all donations are tax deductible.

Hounds: It is a mystery why hounds are so forgotten. If you really want a great family dog that is good with kids, get a hound!! They do need a fenced yard, but most dogs need a fenced yard as well. Most hounds are extremely good with other dogs and excellent with children. Beagles to Bloodhounds, they are truly gentle and loving, and come in all sizes for every home.

Black Dogs: The stigma associated with Black dogs is just incomprehensible. Coloring is just a gene and has nothing at all to do with the temperament of a dog. You can find GREAT black dogs in every breed mix and they will have all of the great qualities of a tan dog!!! Please click on this link to see a video about the plight of black dogs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Dyxo1Y-lkg.

We have also recognized a need for resources after adoption, such as what foods to feed, where to find a good trainer, how to locate a good boarding kennel, or where to find a good vet. These are just a few questions that we can help you answer, and we are here to provide you with that information, regardless of where you adopted your dog.

Please let us know how we can help you!

Our rescue is booming and we are thrilled with that . . . but we are always desperate for new fosters to save more lives . . . if this is something that you think you would like to do, or you would like to learn more about fostering, please visit our "Foster Information" page for details!
