Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him.

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Groot is a young dog, with long, slender, graceful legs. He LOVES to run and play. At only a year and a half old, there is still some puppy in him. He would be perfect for an active individual or family. He would be so happy going hiking, running, anything to stretch those agile legs. His foster says of him "He lost his family because they had to move and could not take him. He loves people and grew up with a 6 year old.  He is an active boy and loves to run and play. He is totally housebroken.  He has a gorgeous brindle coat with white markings." We do know that he doesn't like cats, so a catless home is best, but growing up with children makes him a good family dog candidate.  He is currently being professionally trained to be a good housedog. If you like the outdoors and are hoping to have a friend right beside you enjoying all the fresh air with you, Groot would like to apply for the job. He will be so much more than a friend, as his boxer background translates into a lifetime of loyalty and love.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU: Groot has moved up to level 4 in training. He was with the trainer from June until October and proved that he is a great student.  Groot is a very playful and energetic boy!  He needs physical and mental stimulation daily.  He knows basic commands when on a leash including loose leash walking, heel, sit, down, place and come.  He will hold sit, down and place for long durations even when distracted.  He will come when off leash if motivated with food and if minimally distracted.   He is doing well with not jumping and staying off of counters.  He can be possessive of bones so we trade for those items.  He seems to do well with cats as long as they are not running or acting like they are going to run.  He is great with other dogs but can play really rough.  He is really good in a crate or kennel and is very clean.    He would do well with an active family with no kids or older kids."
