Learn more about the Beagle.

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Hamilton has that typical happy-go-lucky outlook on life, so definitive of a good beagle. And this, in spite of the fact that he was seized by animal control for neglect! Nothing is going to break his amazing natural temperament. His foster says "He is a very happy dog with a great temperament who has gotten along great with other dogs." He will wag his tail all day long and is thrilled to have grass and trees and bushes and...you name it, to sniff and sniff. His beagle nose goes a mile a minute. He can't wait to play outside in your backyard, go for walks with more new smells, and to curl up in a beagle ball each night, right near you. He's a young dog, too, so he should have many years to enjoy life at your side. If you love beagles, Hamilton is ready to love you right back. He's ALL BEAGLE!
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HIS FOSTER: Hamilton is an adorable beagle who was shy the first day, but quickly figured out that he was super happy to be in his new foster home.  He has explored his new house and yard and has declared it "all fun"!  He tends to want to follow his humans around and doesn't come when he is called (just got his name yesterday, so that makes sense), but when you whistle or call, he comes galloping over to find out what his new adventure will be.  He gets along great with kids, wonderfully with our jealous resident dog, and is a lovely companion.  So far, we haven't heard him bark yet, which is very un-beagle like, but nothing much seems to bother him.  He doesn't care that the vacuum is running -  he'll try to help.  He's great at cleaning food off of the floor, too!  So far, he hasn't had any accidents - he has gone to the bathroom outside every time -  and seems to really like his crate - he even goes in there when he's looking for a nap.  We've taken him for a walk, and he's good on the leash...no pulling or anxiety with this little guy. All in all, a wonderful boy - full of happiness and a laid-back disposition, with some bursts of energy thrown in at times!
