All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.
About Gretchen | |
|
Sturdy, stong, in the prime of her life, and loyal, Gretchen has everything going for her except a loving home. While she has been waiting for you, she has practiced for her American Temperament Test Title, working hard every day on the skills she would need for the final exam. Know what? Not only did she study for it, but she has passed it with flying colors! The title she has earned will be hers for life and will go with her when you adopt her. What did she get tested on? A whole lot. For example, part of the test looked for her capacity to recognize unusual situations, her threshold of provocation, her protective instincts, and her ability to recognize when a situation actually becomes a threat to herself or her person. Another section tested her reaction to unusual footing and her ability to overcome any fear of it. She was tested for sudden noise response with gunshots. She demonstrated interest and curiosity, but not fear. For her social skills portion, she had to show that she would be friendly with strangers unless they showed menacing behavior. She had to be able to control any aggressive behaviors and be fine with other dogs. She showed none of the behaviors which would have caused her to fail the exam, such as unprovoked aggression, panic with no recovery, or any kind of strong avoidance to a person, place, or thing. In short, this is one great dog, well in control of herself and the power of her strong muscles and instincts. To pass this test is a wonderful accomplishment. Now all she needs is her own person or family so she can practice these great skills for you each and every day. Her heart and her instincts will be in the right place when you take her to be yours. Every inch a Rottie, and purebred, she even has her entire tail, which was not docked, so she is ALL there for you!
