All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Imagine loving people more than life itself. Imagine those very same people taking you as a puppy, tying you to a broken fence, and then leaving you there, to starve, to feel your collar tighten until you can barely breathe. And then the collar starts to cut into your neck, and still you are all alone, and so hungry, and yet, that spark of love is so strong inside you, that when you see a human come toward you, your tail begins to wag and you hope, with all your heart, that this person will touch you gently. You give them kisses, you press yourself against them in gratitude as they unhook you from the fence for the first time in your life. You hold no grudges, it's not in your nature. The rescuer begins to cry, seeing the collar embedded into your neck , and your thin body, but you don't care. It's a human, and you were born and bred a shepherd, a loyal shepherd, to love humans. Nothing can change that. You are not even a year old yet, and you don't know what it feels like to stretch your legs. You are about to find out.

Layla is now in a safe place in rescue. She is still, unbelievably, completely trusting of people  and oh, how she can wag her tail now, hopeful for affection. She will give those kisses for any attention. She has found out it feel wonderful to have belly rubs. At the least provocation, she will roll over on her back and say "please?"  She is learning to play. We have given her toys and she will chase after them when you throw them. There is not an aggressive bone in this dog's body. Even as she was starving, she would take treats gently from our hands. She loves other dogs, is good with all people, and is very initelligent, like most of her breed. She will learn anything you want her to learn, as she has an overwhelming desire to please. You will never, ever, have a more loyal dog. Her sweet nature is simply blossoming under our care and it is a beautiful , no, wondrous thing to see. We would like for you to see it, too. If you want a dog who was surely born to be a best friend forever, that would be Layla.
