Login to Remember your Favorite Animals and Breeds! |
All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.
About Cyrus the Lab | |
|
|
Cyrus is an incredibly sweet boy, who has lots of love to give (and kisses too)! He
is adjusting to home life and becoming more comfortable each day. The first
hurdle was climbing stairs and he mastered that quickly. He's learning how to
play with toys and brings them back after each throw but would much rather
cuddle or roughhouse then play catch. Cyrus is working on house training and
lets us know when he needs a bathroom break by going to the door. He is a quiet
guy and only howls when he hears sirens. Cyrus is friendly with other dogs and
children (just remember he's a kisser) but he may jump if very excited. He
hasn't had the chance to meet a cat yet. He's shown no aggressive
behaviors with food or without. He knows how to "sit" and is working
on "shake and laydown." He is also working hard on his leash skills
(outside is just so exciting)!!! Cyrus is a silly and playful guy who hopes to
find his forever home soon!!
UPDATE ON CYRUS:
Cyrus has been successful with house training and has been accident free for two weeks!! He recently got to go play with a two year old child and an older more dominant dog and did wonderfully sharing his ball with both. He certainly captures the hearts of everyone he meets.
"My foster Mom says I'm a little quirky and I guess she's right. I sure have lots of love to give and I can make you laugh daily with my goofy side. I've had to overcome a few things since my new life began but its all been worth it because I know I'll make you a happy dog parent! My vision isn't the best but that doesn't stop me from playing catch. I occasionally bump into things when I'm navigating smaller spaces. I'm learning about new types of floors and while I prefer carpet; I can quickly adjust with a little help from you. I love kids and other dogs and I'm even a good listener when I'm on or off leash. Hope I can bring you as much joy as I've brought my foster Mom in this short amount of time!"

Special Needs: We had Cyrus' eye appointment today. The good news is that he doesn't have cataracts. He does however have marked retinal degeneration and scarring. She said its hard to pinpoint a etiology at this point but it could be due to an untreated infectious process or various other things. She did not feel that it is a progressive degenerative disease but wanted to start him on a supplement as a precaution. She has requested a recheck in 4-6 months unless we notice any changes before then. She said his vision is pretty functional and it's hard to know the extent of his vision loss (she felt the test was unnecessary and too costly). Other than the supplement there is no treatment
