All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.
About Bree - Hero Dog | |
By nature Bree is a calmer dog, especially for her young age, but this night was different. Instead of lying quietly while the family read and talked, she began to pace. Then we heard a whine now and then. It really caught our attention, as it was so unlike her. She came to us, and barked, and then raced to the door, then barked, and came back to us. She began to lunge back and forth between us and the door. Then there was all out frantic barking and her little body began to throw itself against the door, all the while looking repeatedly back at us. Clearly, she was trying to tell us something, but what? She raced to the door that led to downstairs, gave out several yelps, and then it was back to the front door, pounding against it now. We were so taken aback by this unusual behavior that we actually went to the door leading to downstairs and opened it. That was when the smoke curled out. We couldn't even see the ceiling anymore. Bree knew there was trouble and she staked her life on letting us know. The firetruck came, dealt with the fire, and praised Bree. Nobody was hurt in the end, thanks to Bree. She became a celebrity and even the newpaper wanted to do a story on her. Bree, the dog abandoned to die in a shelter because she was expecting puppies. She was saved by Reach Out Rescue, only to turn around and save her rescuers. Yes, Bree is a real Hero Dog.
Bree has a history of being a happy, friendly, outgoing dog. She just celebrated her very first birthday with her foster. Bree has lived with other dogs without incident, but does not like cats. She has been around children. She loves to play in leaf piles, putting her whole body, except for her tail into the leaves, imagining she is hidden, her little curved tail sticking out, wagging in delight. That wagging tail greets everyone to the house. She could be an ambassador! She loves to play with toys, especially Nyla bones, and is good at entertaining herself. Not a big barker, she lets her family know someone has arrived with only a few barks, and then she is done. She is a good watchdog, though, as nothing escapes her. She is always "on duty". She enjoys going for walks and is great on a leash. Very treat motivated, we think you could teach her to do anything, as she is also very, very smart. She figures things out! A loving dog, ready to start out her life with you. Easy to have, easy to love right back. She has your back, always!
