Whitman needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Whitman had a rough start in life. He was dumped in a parking lot with all of his brothers and sisters and mama, when he was just a tiny puppy. Of all the puppies, he was the only one who made it. He wanted to live! A kind person took him and his mama into safety and now he is ready to find his own home, where he can love his forever family with all his heart. He is full of life and ready to learn. His foster says "Whitman is a sweet boy who likes people and other dogs but has not been handled much. He's great, though, once you put the leash on him ." He is quite small for a lab, but that is probably due to the size of his mama, who you can see with him in one of the pictures at the bottom of the page. Shy and sweet, he is just waiting for someone to come along, make him part of their family, and let him know he is loved. He has his mothers good temperament just not as well socialized. Whitman is 40 lbs. Has lived with a number of other dogs.  Does his business outside just not sure how inclined he is to hold it for extended periods. He is friendly and likes attention. He's a little nervous of new people and places because of his lack of early socialization. He enjoys running around and exploring a fenced in yard and enjoys leash walks. He looks like a small choc lab with a thinner face. He just dances around a lot and pants when nervous. Hes not mouthy or nippy at all. He let me clean out his ears without a problem. Was able to brush him and clean his ears with him just standing there. "
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HIS FOSTER: Whitman has boundless energy from the moment he stirs early in the morning until his foster goes to bed. He loves exploring the great outdoors, especially when there are rabbits, squirrels, and birds nearby. He has fast reflexes which make us sometimes call him "Flash". Whitman is currently being fostered in a home where he is the only dog. He loves all the attention, as evidenced by his constantly wagging tail!
