All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Eli is a sweet, gentle boy who has not had a great start in his very young life. He is a shy pup who will cower down if he is not sure what is expected of him.  This sweet boy wants nothing more than love and kindness and crawled into his evaluators lap to be held. She said his heart was in his eyes and this boy has a special kind of soul. We're not sure what has happened in his short life but we're going to make sure it gets better!  This sweet boy will need time to gain his confidence and learn to trust, but once he understands that you will not hurt him and you show him how wonderful life will be now, his gratitude will be unending for all of his life. He needs you. And he doesn't even know you exist.  

UPDATE: Eli is doing well at his foster home. His foster says "He loves staring at the birds and squirrels, enjoys long walks, naps like a pro, and his favorite activity is eating!! He has bursts of high energy and then naps...very puppy like! Loves his walks and does very well on his leash. He is doing well with crate training and loves a good window to stare out!" Life is already looking up!

NOTE FROM ELI'S FOSTER:  Eli will do better in a home with older kids.  He would also love to have a doggie friend to help show him the ropes.  He is getting used to a crate and is doing well with housebreaking.  He's a sweetheart!
Some special notes: 

- he is very nervous outside with lots of noises so city living could be a challenge for him. He also has some top notch hearing so he might struggle in an apartment if it was noisy 

- he does well with other dogs...not aggressive or dominant at all! He loves to watch squirrels and birds...and I have an odd feeling he will chase cats (hadn't been tested yet)

- we are working on crate training ...so far so good, he sleeps through the night in the crate when it's in my room

- potty training is about 95% there... 

- he eats without swallowing so I'm gonna work on a slow feeder but might be something he needs for awhile. He does eat next to my dog and doesn't try to take her food (not food aggressive)

- he needs a few walks a day, he has spurts of energy and when he's bored he will find things to chew.

- we are working on his manners... training may be a good trust builder with him (however group training might be difficult)

- a fenced yard might be preferred for him, he really is a hound..but he won't ever go outside alone 

 I hope some or all of this helps. He is a sweetheart that loves cuddles. He needs a place to be comfortable and gain his confidence. He is very attention motivated...he will do anything to get a pet on the head :)
