Bugle Boy needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Shy, sweet, and loving, life has not been kind to Bugle Boy. Just wanting someone to love him, he comes when you call him, but he comes crouched, waiting to be kicked or beaten. In a home where he feels unthreatened, he will blossom. Very submissive, with absolutely no aggressive tendencies, Bugle Boy gets along with other dogs. His pleading eyes struck us right away and we decided he needed, no, deserved, a chance at happiness. If you choose Bugle Boy, you will know you have truly saved him. He will know it too, and will love you with all his heart every day of his life. His thanks will be complete devotion, as only a hound can give...soft kisses on your hand, a warm body next to you each evening...someone to show him how it is to play under the sun, feel a gentle hand, know he is safe and happy.
FOSTER UPDATE: Bugle was so frightened for so long...and then one morning as I woke up, I could not believe my eyes to see him walking into my bedroom (he would never come upstairs up to this point) wagging his tail. I was so happy and excited, I praised him, and as he was wiggling his whole body I felt a lick on my face. It was so short and quick, like a nanosecond, and as soon as he did that he turned around and ran downstairs. I cried and that moment I knew that he will be ok and that my approach to just let him set the terms and the pace has been the right one for him. Since then, I’ve gotten many face licks from Bugle. He is definitely showing affection, he likes to be held and kissed and his long neck rubbed. He lets me put on his easy walker no problem, look at his belly, cut his nails …He shows so much joy when I return home from somewhere. He loves his walks and goes outside in the back yard on his own pretty much every time I let everyone else out. Occasionally, something will still spook him and then he refuses to go even if I put the leash on him, but that is becoming more and more rare. He loves his long walks and sniffing tracks in the snow. I love this boy. He is such a gentle soul.
Bugle will do well in a home with a laid back dog, or he can be the only dog and will surely continue to blossom with all of the attention. We would also like to place him in a family without children, as their quick movements can frighten him.
