Learn more about the Golden Retriever.
All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Amy looks like the sun just came down to earth. She simply shimmers in natural light, a golden retriever right down to her feathered toes. In the prime of her life, she is healthy, happy, and a true love. She has every puzzle piece of that golden personality that has made this breed of dog so much sought after as a family dog. She loves children, other dogs, even cats. (She will chase a cat, but NOT with evil intent. She wants to play. A dog savvy cat will have her number in one!) She is ready to spread that golden temperament all over your world. Can't you see her on the other end of your leash, her glorious tail flying in the breeze like a flag and her graceful legs pacing right along side of you? Prancing around your yard with her toys? Curled up next to you in the evening? Looking up at you with her classic almond shaped eyes? If you have been wanting a golden, Amy has it all.
EXTRA INFORMATION: Amy is a golden mix, but we think she looks VERY golden. She's very thin. The family she lived with clearly did not take care of her . She is rather shy and is afraid of thunderstorms. She was uncrated last night and had no accidents, no squeaking, nothing. Ate like a champ this morning. She's going in and out without problems. A bunch of neighborhood kids came over to meet her...and she just soaked up the attention. LOVES kids. She's fantastic with our kids, too.
LATEST UPDATE FOR OUR GIRL: Amy is dear! She arrived here a terrified, matted mess and in just the two days since, she's blossomed in to an affectionate mini golden retriever! After a bath, a MAJOR groom-out and some love, she is just dreamy. She is a favorite with the neighborhood kids who heard about the visitor and came over. She rolls over for belly rubs and has this adorable little grunt of joy that just makes you pet her more. She's got beautiful golden coloring but without the size.
We don't think she's been on a leash before because she was all over the place on a walk. Pulling, zigging and zagging, but thoroughly enjoying all the sights and smells of the neighborhood.
Housetrained
Crate-trained - but we only crate her when we leave the house - otherwise run of the house
Somewhat hand-shy especially with men.
Can be spooked and would benefit from a Martingale collar to make sure she doesn't back out of a leash.
We think she's somewhat of a resource guarder so we feed her in her crate.
Kid-friendly
Dog-friendly after a brief period of adjustment her
Has started getting on furniture and LOVES being on the bed.
Doesn't fetch...(she should have her golden retriever card revoked!)
She would be a fantastic addition to a family!
