All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Franklin is a very, very special dog... Even puppy kisses don't match the love and loyalty from Franklin's eyes as he gently lays his head in your lap. This sweet senior showed up as a stray in rough shape - his coat was matted and in sore need of a trip to the beauty salon, and he had just about every parasite there is. Many dogs wouldn't tolerate all the poking and prodding we had to do to assess his medical condition, but Franklin welcomed it. We're pretty confident this gentle soul hasn't been shown much attention or love in his life, but he just relishes in it all. He's so grateful for the slightest bit of affection, and closes his eyes as you pet him, as if to savor every touch. He won't ask for much, just a soft bed to sleep in and a chance to show you the quiet dignity and gratitude he possesses. The friendship of a senior dog is profoundly fulfilling, and this sweet boy deserves to spend his retirement sleeping on soft beds, chewing on rawhides (which he loves!), and being thoroughly pampered. You could truly change his whole world - will you be Franklin's hero?

A NOTE FROM HIS CAREGIVER: Franklin has a few spurts of energy but for the most part he likes to lie around, chew his bone and if someone is willing, be brushed or rubbed. He has age on him but not sure how old. Very bad teeth but will eat dry food, however we have been moistening it and adding in some can as well. We are feeding him 4 times a day to try to put some weight on him. He has shown no dog aggression at all and likes all people including children. He will do the typical Border Collie circling in his run when it is time for a meal or he needs to potty otherwise I would say he is pretty low key. A real sweetheart that appreciates what food and attention he receives and doesn't demand more. His eyesight is not so good, but he can see very well with his heart. He is currently heartworm positive, but we are working on that with medication.
