Ultra needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Ultra is a lovely girl and shows off her "golden" genes well. She has always been a beloved family member and is not only well house trained, but has good house manners. She is fine with most other dogs, given a chance to sort things out with them, and older children (over 8 yr old), but young children and very small dogs or puppies make her nervous. The best way to get to know Ultra is to hear about her straight from her owner, who must give her up.

A lot of things make Ultra special, she is one of the most loyal dogs I have had the pleasure of owning, and is always at the door waiting when I get home. Once I'm home she will not only jump around but will jump and spin in the air, also when she is excited to go outside she will do the same. Instead of barking at doors to go outside, she knocks on the door which is really cool, and cute.

She loves to have her belly rubbed. You know she is completely comfortable with you, once she flips over and lets you rub with tucking her tail, its a nice feeling. She is extremely sensitive to her owners' emotions, and if they are down she is always by their side, she will follow us around like crazy after a bad day, and if you sit on the floor with her, then her head will be your lap. Normally she will not hang all over people, but only when she knows you need her. She can sit, and lay down on command, and although it took me forever to train her, when she comes in from outside and its raining she will sit and lift her front paws one at a time for me to dry them and then I tell her to "get up" and she will stand and stay so that I can dry her back feet and haunches. Once I give her a slap on the butt she knows she is all set and can run away and play then.

Ultra can be good on a leash, if walked regularly she gets better, right now she has had a long time between walks so she is not at her best, but again with consistent walks she improves dramatically, we always used to take her to Great Falls, and she loves that. If folks looking to adopt have land she is actually better not on a leash, she will run about 20 feet ahead and then wait and then run ahead again, we have only done this on private property for her safety.

Ultra does not love toys, she loves milk bones, but not toys, our other dog loves to play fetch though, and her favorite game is to try and prevent him from getting to us, but she doesn't care much for the toy itself, its like watching a doggy football game, its hysterical and they both love doing it.

A NOTE FROM HER OWNER: She is dominant and that works out in our situation based on our other dog, who is submissive. She has been around other dogs and we have taken her to dog parks, we also have a cat who she gets along with, they know to stay away from each other when they are not wanting to deal with one another, about as good as you can expect for a dog/cat relationship. Ultra can be difficult to predict around other dogs sometimes. She must have an adjustment period. She can't be judged on how she reacts during initial meeting with new animals. We have had her stay with friends and they have 4 cats, I believe, and after 3 days she was able to co-exist. Also, I have taken her to a professional dog trainer, and he says she has a great temperament and is a very well behaved dog, she was with a dog at his farm and she did a lot of correcting behavior to the other dog trying to teach her boundaries, so she and the other dog did snap at each other a bit, although the trainer said not to interfere that this was very normal behavior. So that type of behavior could be expected upon first meeting between her and a dog, if you already have another dog.

This great family dog and best friend would love her second chance at your house. Are you ready for a best friend? If you are interested in Ultra, please contact Libby at:
