All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.
About Dorie | |
|
|
Dorie is a nine year old, 25 lb Corgi who wants to be your best cuddle bug. Laid back and a homebody, she loves three things best: her human scratching her velvety ears, a great place to nap, and food. Housetrained and great with other animals and people, Dorie has a few challenges that don’t stop her from being a trusting soul and having a gentle and sweet disposition. Totally blind in her right eye, some arthritis and an allergy to something in daily life give her sneezes and throat clearing, a slower gait, and her own way of negotiating spaces. But she remains curious, affectionate and comical.
A quiet girl, Dorie would do best in a home with fewer steps and a slower lifestyle. She does not need to be crated and will greet you with her propeller tail going and a soft nuzzle if you only leave to go to the mailbox. Nothing seems to really bother her, and she adapts to new people and situations as if they have always been part of her life.
Daily requirements for Dorie are her bed with a raised edge that will come with her, brushing, and her aspirin and fish oil for arthritis. She even lets her person open her mouth and pop pills right in that she promptly swallows. However, oh the joy!, she will almost turn somersaults if she sees her pills wrapped in cheese! Occasional baths and nail clipping are the rest of what is needed. Dorie has had extensive dental work and eats a mainly soft diet, however somehow loves crunchy food and treats, too.
This senior girl is looking for the rest of her years with companionship and a place in someone’s heart. Whoever adopts Dorie will quickly have a place in hers.
