All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Small, sweet, happy, friendly...that describes our Keifer Yorkie. From his cute perky ears to his silky coat and waggin tail, Keifer is all love and play. While a bit older, he still loves to play. Outgoing and happy to meet everyone, he is also good with kids, other dogs, even cats. He will greet all your friends with a big smile and wag his whole body in delight to see them. Already housebroken, he is all ready for fun walks and snuggle. But let his foster mom tell  you more...
"He is good on a leash and loves to go for walks. He LOVES attention and to play. He doesn't really pull a lot when walking but think the collar does affect him - so probably a harness would be better.  He sits and lays down and rolls over when you can get his attention - trying to work on NOT grabbing the leash - but i think that's just from excitement to go outside! once he starts walking he doesn't even bother. We went to visit the neighbors this morning and he was on his best behavior - loves people. He lets me wipe his feet when we come in from outside and rolls over to have his belly wiped! This morning after he went out and i was eating breakfast after wandering the kitchen a bit he came over and layed by my chair - he likes to be where i am but only cries for a little bit if i leave him in the kitchen. He does like to run out the door anytime it opens - so we have to be careful with that - fortunately we have the porch so he can't run outside and he comes right back in. Overall, a good dog that needs a forever home  so he can get all the love he deserves!
NEW UPDATE: Keifer is a lover! He loves attention - head rub or belly rub - quick to roll over to make sure that happens too!!! He has done very well with going outside to take care of business. It was only the first day he was here that he had a couple accidents - both of us trying to get used to each other.

He loves to play keep away with his toys- which should work our great with Misty to help her work off a few pounds! Loves going for walks and loves to be outside, but will come immediately when called, of course he is always on a leash or lead.  He does like to stick close to you and always keeps an eye on you.

Loves people - the first walk we took we visited the neighbors and  they got along great. After he greeted them and sniffed around a bit he just decided to lay down and wait till we got done talking.  He seems to be a very well socialized dog. He loves my 3 yr old grandson and follows him around.

The only problem so far has been grabbing the leash when putting it on and taking it off - but with a stern no he lets go immediately, just to grab it again, so we have been working on that. Some times are better than others depending on how much energy he has! He knows as soon as I put my shoes on we're getting ready to go out and he starts getting excited!

But when it's time to rest he's just as well adjusted to that too.  Will lay close by - sometimes he will go into his crate but will usually lay on the rug - so those beds might come in handy!

It would be great to see Keifer go to his forever home quickly since he seems to bond so quickly to people. Can't say enough good things about this dog - he's cute, attentive, seems to learn quickly and aims to please.
