Gretchen Shepherd needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Our Gretchen has not had an easy time of it so far in her young life. There was never enough food and she got left out often, so  she is very thin. We are working on some good chow and know she will add some weight and fill out her body until it is sleek and beautiful. She has also not had much attention, if any at all, but her natural temperament is so sweet and gentle, that she is a very friendly dog, in spite of it all, with that wonderful long tail wagging happily when someone is kind to her. She is very trusting to someone who treats her gently. She also walks very well on a leash and is one of those dogs who is eager to please. She has her whole long life to give to you and would be the most grateful dog...all for food in her bowl, a soft place to lie down, and, having those shepherd genes, the most important one...someone to whom she can give her loyal heart.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HER FOSTER:

Gretchen is a very sweet girl.  She's well behaved and minds well.  She was nearly starved when I picked her up so putting any kind of food in her tummy created problems for a few days, but since then she appears housebroken. She sleeps with me in my room at night and doesn't wake me to go out nor does she have any accidents.  She doesn't have any food, toy or other aggression. She was crated at night for the first four nights and seemed to like it. She would walk right in and not put up any kind of fuss at all.  Also, sometimes during the day she goes in her crate by herself to take a nap. She gets along well with my adult german shephed and shih tzus, but her favorite is my 11 week old puppy.
