Learn more about the West Highland White Terrier Westie.

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

One little white bear, looking for a home. Izak the Westie is a robust boy, on the larger size for a Westie, but that only means he is sturdy! Although he is a senior, he is always up for a walk in the woods or down the street, his little tail wagging a mile a minute and his nose sniffing all the good smells along the way. Raised with another dog (a BIG one) and a cat, he is fine with either, but he does seem to be frightened of small children. A great, laid back temperament, his owner says of him " He loves to be a lap dog and is content resting with me or with our other dog.  He is a good alert dog who has always alerted us when there on visitors or others outside of our home.  He is used to an electric fence and has never attempted to run past the boundaries.  At this point, I’m not sure he even needs the electric fence as he generally stays around the house or laying in the sun outside."
Izak would do especially well with an older person or couple who would rather take shorter walks and would enjoy a cuddle companion.
