Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about her.

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

About Dinah

  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Fawn with white
  • Current Size: 60 Pounds
  • Current Age: 19 Years 4 Months (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes
Dinah and her brother, age 8, were surrendered to the Shenandoah
Valley Animal Shelter in Waynesboro, VA, August 14, due to a divorce.
Dinah had lived with her brother and her human family her entire life.
Dinah's brother was adopted quickly, leaving her behind. She came to me as a hospice dog on August 31. The shelter's vet had assessed her and felt her chances for adoption were poor due to mast cell cancer of the skin. I had her right hip mass removed and tissue from that and two other sites sent to the lab for biopsy, she has zero markers for a recurrence of the mast cell cancer. Her chest x-ray was negative. My vet says that Dinah is clear of cancer, and she will most likely die of old age. She is a happy active curious friendly dog.

Disposition:

Sweet, curious, friendly.

A bit protective around men, pickups and large trucks (takes a defensive stance, barks and growls; when approached gently, she becomes friendly and curious). Likes to give kisses. Very affectionate. Likes to sit near you such as when you wash dishes and lean her back into your leg. Leash walks okay -- doesn't pull, but doesn't stay on any one side for long. Walks off-leash very well. Has done many trail walks in the woods, has no prey drive, stays with her person. Loves car rides. Needs daily exercise -- boxers in general are high energy and Dinah is true to form in that respect. No fee due to health concerns, transportation available. Can get along with some other dogs but best suited as only dog.

 Adoption includes:

Spay
Vaccinations for DaLPP and Rabies
