You say you are looking for a calm, quieter dog. Has to be very gentle, but also be laid back. Oh, and you want him to be young, too. That's a tall order, BUT, we have just the right dog for you...Henley! His total goal in life is to be a couch potato. He wants to sit right there beside you. Perhaps you can compare favorite tv programs! He will be delighted with peaceful walks. He will play happily in the backyard, but don't expect him to dig holes, howl, or even tear around like a mad dog, chewing on the shrubs. No, Henley is hoping for some time in the sun, some nice sniffing around, and plently of time with his people. Extra gentle and sweet, he is very good with children. A wonderful family dog, companion, friend. It's going to feel like he has been your dog forever. Easy to have, to hold, to love.  The best? All for a simple pat on the head, Henley will give you his whole heart for all of his life.

Regarding cats:

"Their owner did indicate that they had been around two cats at their previous home with no issues.  This was in an outdoor environment so I'm not sure if they would behave the same way indoors or around other cats, but there is a really good chance that they would be fine."
