Sheba
Alot of you remember Sheba as Old Fat Brown Sheba...I think that is the nickname that Carol Jordon gave her when she fostered her. Well, tomorrow at 4:30 I will release Old Fat Brown Sheba from all of her pain and suffering and discomfort. Her old body is wearing out and it is time for me to give her the best gift that I can give..to let her go to the Bridge where there will no more suffering and pain and she will be romping and playing with all of the others that have gone before her. She is one more tough old bird is all that I can say. She is 15 years and 2 months old. Sheba was rescued off of Martin Luther King in Greensboro with a litter of puppies (a joint rescue between ARFP and Triad SPCA).....I do believe that all of the puppies have long since passed. She went through several foster homes and came to live with me about 10 years ago. During that time she did find a home for a few years, but the owner lost her home and returned Sheba back to me. I was glad to have her back with me and I officially adopted her a few years ago...so she would know she was loved and had a legitimate home in case something were to happen to her(probably more for me than for Sheba....Sheba knew she had a loving home with me...) Sheba was blessed at one of The Blessing of The Animal Ceremonies with Ruff Love Rescue...she won oldest dog award at the blessing. Everything is in order for her passing. Just one thing...at 4:30 tomorrow, please do one kind act in memory of Sheba....let's keep paying it forward in Sheba's honor. Sadie
March 2, 2013 At 2:30 this afternoon, a peaceful end occurred to a rescue story on this earth. Sadie was my daughter's 13 year old dog; a little pom and whatever mix who was adopted by my daughter from a frequent kill shelter. She was middle aged when she joined us - full of infections, the worst case of whipworm the vet had ever seen, and nails that had grown into her pads and then split apart so that the ingrown part was hidden and she was walking on what appeared to be just jagged ends instead of the pain they must have caused. With health care, she blossomed into the most energetic and dainty little house lady who periodically liked to get down and dirty with my (Nana's) crew. She could come in and rule the roost or just enjoy the fellow dog company for periodic "vacations." About two months ago it was evident that she was loosing steam and living with a toddler was causing her grief, so, without waiting to the end of her gentle patience, she came to visit Nana's pack. She spent a glorious doggy two months with her buddies, inside and out at will, rolling in the winter grass, lounging wherever she wanted in the house. Yesterday she just couldn't get up. A vet had alerted us to this inevitability, so it was not a surprise. She passed on without pain and with lots of love. Her pals had hung around her since yesterday and she had enjoyed lots of lap time. Sadie was a devoted watchdog, an unfailingly gentle friend, and the best lovebug imaginable. And she had been a discarded animal the some fool had not valued just waiting to be all those things. We will never know if her rough beginning cut short the possibly longer life, but live she did and made many more of our lives all the richer for knowing her. Rescue = love.

Buddy the Golden
Today Golden Buddy, the sweetest, most gentle, loving old soul left this world in body. His memory will live on forever in all of the hearts that he touched....especially mine. Thank you to RORR for giving Buddy a few good months of love and good health.

Twinkle
Little Twinkle with your extra toes, you came to me to be loved and cared for when you were just a baby and I promised you that I would find you a wonderful home. For 5 months I was privileged to see you grow and then suddenly something went terribly wrong with your small body and despite the vet care and and medications, your time to leave me and your siblings had come. We all miss you very much but take comfort that you are now at a better place where you can romp and play without having pain and difficulties to breathe. One day we will all meet again, my little Twinkle. Love - Your Foster Mom

Lofty
Lofty was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. After weeks of intense love, medications and dedication, Lofty said good bye and is at Rainbow Bridge. Lofty is at peace now. My heart will ache for a very long time. I won't ever get over this beauty. God do I miss her. She was one of a kind and there will never be another Lofty.
